Honeymoon travel to India - Day 7– Transfer from Jaipur to Goa

Today, we had to leave Jaipur and fly to Goa with stop in Mumbai as there was no direct flight from Jaipur to Goa. As our first flight was at 8 am in the morning we had to leave the hotel at 6.30 am. At the airport we had an assistant who helped us in checking in. This is very convenient as we do not have to worry about anything. You just give a small tip in the end and that's it. Jaipur is a pretty small airport and there were only a couple of gates (maybe 4 gates at all). Our flight from Jaipur to Goa took us 1 and a half hour and during landing in Mumbai we could see Asia's biggest slum area from above. It looked really impressive and you cannot imagine that there should live so many people. This slum area is right next to the airport. You even have the impression that the airport authorities have to defend the airport properties against the growing slum. You could see the houses of the slum people everywhere around the airport.

After a 2 and a half hour stay at Mumbai airport we embarked our flight to Goa. After another 1 and half hours flight we arrived at an even smaller airport than Jaipur was. At Goa aiport there is no gate at all and only a very simple arrival hall. It was maybe a hundred meters walk from where the airplane parked to where the arrivals area is. However, there were busses to drive you these one hundred meters because you are not allowed to walk around on the airport area.

From the airport we were picked up by the local agent and a driver and we were brought to our hotel. The temperature in the Goa region is around 36 degrees Celcius. This is a really lovely temperature during winter time. When arriving at our hotel and seeing the hotel room we were shocked. The hotel was not at all what we expected by seeing the pictures and descriptions of the hotel. We did not want to stay a single night there as the hotel room (in fact some kind of cottage house) was dirty, dark and not at all well maintained. We decided to call our local travel agency and ask for support in order to find a better hotel immediately. The local agency was more than helpful and after three hours we had someone to pick us up from the hotel and transfer us to another much better hotel. So instead of staying at the Laguna Anjuna hotel we revised our plan and stay at the Park Hyatt Goa hotel which is much more expensive but one of the very best hotels in the Goa region. It has the biggest outdoor pool in Asia and also a 42 hectares property with all different kind of amenities. This is a hotel which is more than appropriate for a honeymoon travel. There, we arrived late evening and got a drink in a real coconut as a welcome present. What a difference compared to the other hotel!
