Travelling with CaRe: Day 3 – San Francisco to Monterey

Our day in San Francisco started with a nice blue sky. After breakfast we boarded our spacious car and left SFO in direction of Silicon Valley using the I-280. As we turned into the direction of the Pacific the sky turned into a dark grey which was all fog. The fog over here is very interesting as it is blowed across our heads at high spead. We never saw such a fog before. While going out of San Francisco we also crossed a neighbourhood which seems to be famous among homosexual people as there were a lot of rainbow flags.

On the way to the Silicon Valley we had a couple of nice photo stops with beautiful landscape.

In Silicon Valley itself we discovered a couple of technology companies and the Stanford University campus. On the Facebook campus there was only a little „Like“ poster and office buildings while the Stanford University buildings were huge and impressive.

After a nice Indian lunch with a colleague of Carsten we continued our tour in Mountainview on Google campus. Over there, everything was in the colours of Google. Even the bicycles. The next stop was SAP campus in Palo Alto where we also wanted to see the Roche buildings which in the past were right opposite to SAP. These buildings were no longer there. Our last stop in Silicon Valley was the Apple headquarters in Cupertino. Here, we could see the Apple logos everywhere.

From Silicon Valley we went back to the Pacific coast to Santa Cruz. This is a very nice city on the beach. We also saw the Santa Cruz Boardwalk which is an attraction park on the beach. Furthermore, there were a lot of surfers on the sea. This seems to be very liked among the people as we saw a lot of surfers along the coast.

Before going to our hotel in Monterey we stopped at the Gilroy Premium outlets. Unfortunately, it was pretty empty and the shops itself did not offer too much of what we desire.
