Travelling with CaRe: Day 14 – Death Valley to Visalia at Sequoia National Park

Our Death Valley experience was way less drastic than expected. The temperature was around 30 degrees Celsius only and the sky was pretty cloudy. Nevertheless, it was more than interesting to see the Badwater bassin which is known as the lowest point of the western hemisphere at 88.5 meters below the sea level. The Death Valley is another prove how divers the landscape is on the US Westcoast. We saw colours from white and yellow to turquoise and black while passing the artists drive in Death Valley.

From Death Valley we went directly to the Sequoia National Park which took us quite some time. On the way we passed by at Stovepipe Wells which is a place in Death Valley National Park with a lot of sand dunes and very fine sand.

Right after leaving the Death Valley National Park we had a situation which you do not want to encounter while driving on a road. There were heavy winds and the route was going through a sandy area of the desert. That is why it was a real sandstorm where you could not even see the road during some of the moments. This did not feel good but we managed to reach our next destinations.

Our route took us along Lake Isabella which is a very nice lake in the mountains of the Sierra Nevada before we came back into the civilized world at Bakersfield turning North into the direction of Sequoia National Park.
