Day 18 – Fish Camp at Yosemite Nationalpark to San Francisco

Today is the day at which our loop closes. We travelled back to San Francisco during the morning and early afternoon hours. We reached San Francisco via the Oakland Bay Bridge which is a two level bridge where the SFO outbound traffic flows on the lower deck while the inbound traffic flows on the upper deck.

The last highlight of our westcoast journey was the Alcatraz night visit. We had booked our tickets for boarding the ferry at 6 PM and checking in at the ferry at 5:30 PM. Usually it should not take more than 10 minutes from the hotel to the ferry parking lot. We started at 5 PM from the hotel and reached the ferry building at 5:45 PM which was really late due to bad traffic. We got caught in terrible traffic near Market Street and felt like we would never reach in time. Finally, we made it to board the Alcatraz ferry 5 minutes before it started.

The Alcatraz night tour itself was fantastic. We got a guided tour and a couple of presentations which you would normally not get if you take the daylight tours. We loved the tour. Whenever you go there you should not miss the audio tour which is the best we have ever listened to.

Now we prepare for our departure tomorrow.
