Travelling with CaRe: Day 8 – Los Angeles to Las Vegas

The first stop on our trip from Los Angeles to Las Vegas was the Ontario Mills fashion outlet. It is meant to be the biggest mall of California and that is what it immediately feels like. They even have a Segway for the mall's security service. This reminded us of the famous hollywood movie which is called „Der Kaufhaus Cop“ in German language.

From Ontario Mills we continued towards Palm Springs which was not directly on the route to Las Vegas. It was definitely worth the deviation. Here is where the climate changed from normal LA climate to desert climate.

Palm Springs has a very hot climate and a lot of hot wind. That is why we could see a lot of windmill parks. We also visited the valley station of the famous aerial tramway.

The next stop on our tour was the ghost town of Calico which has been a former mine. The way took us along a lonely route through the desert. This was like being part of an original western movie.

At the time when we reached to ghost town of Calico all the shops and attractions had already been closed. But hey, if you go to a ghost town you don't want to go shopping. ;-) This is what made it feel even more authentic. This ghost town was founded in 1881. However, it felt like there was no life for more than a thousand years.

Our last passage for the day was the way to Las Vegas. We saw heavy car and truck traffic despite the huge distance between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Finally, we saw a nice sunset in the desert along the road while driving.

We reached Las Vegas during the right time of the day. As the sun had already set we got a very first impression of all the bling bling lights at Las Vegas.
